We will start our tour from the main entrance of the Ancient Agora, where you will get an idea of the open excavated area, having a look at the map of the place. Your private, licensed guide will give you a short introduction of the Agora and will show you on the map the route that you will follow.Walk around and explore with us the core of ancient Athenian life. It was a commercial, political, religious, and cultural place where the greatest Greek philosophers, such as Plato, Socrates, Demosthenes, e.t.c. taught and debated. Visit the temple of Hephaestus and learn more about it.Walk in between the remains of Tholos, Agrippas’ odeon, the ancient parliament and various stoas that were used as gyms or shops.Visit the Agora’s museum, located in the two-storeyed Stoa of Attalos, which was built in the 2nd century BC, and was rebuilt by the American Archaeological School and complete the puzzle of the importance and significance of the Agora in the everyday life of an Athenian citizen.The tour ends at the Ancient Agora and if you wish you can stay longer, walking the paths where once Socrates and the other philosophers walked, enjoy the energy of the place, the sun, the valuable shade that the numerous trees offer, especially the hot, summer days, or just sit at one of the benches and admire the view of Acropolis and Lycabettus hills.Right outside the entrance/exit of the Ancient Agora is the most famous, pedestrian street of Plaka, Adrianou street. It is full of restaurants, taverns, coffee shops and souvenir shops. Monastiraki square and the flea market, as well as Thision train station and Monastiraki train and metro station are at a close distance. So, it's up to you on how you will continue your day.
